The society we live in is full of all sorts of different people. Not everyone identifies with a particular trait in the same way. People who identify as transgender are all different in the way they express it. There is no need for one person to attack another on how he or she chooses to present himself or herself.
When talking about transgenderism, we must first define what the term means. Transgender is known as an umbrella term for individuals who wish to express themselves as the opposite gender to a particular degree. This could include transsexuals, crossdressers, and drag queens. All of these forms of transgendered behavior are equal to one another. They just exist as ways of expression. Negative connotations are created by those who do not understand this simple fact of life. The individual is the one that chooses whether or not these forms signal something positive or negative.
In regards to transgenderism and the media, no one can control what will transpire as far as this form of communication is concerned. We can censor content all that we like, but that will not change the true feelings of the producers that put on whatever show he or she wants. Is it up to the general public have an open mind regarding transgenderism and to keep informed about how things actually are. Television is there to entertain and is not used as an educational tool that often. If you are watching an episode of Family Guy and feel as though you have been enlightened, about a specific idea, then you might want to actually do some research about the topic before you let a TV show have an impact on what you believe.
In other words. decide for yourself what you want transgenderism to represent to you. Hopefully you choose to let it represent something positive about life rather than negative. If you identify as transgendered, do not try to distance yourself from others who might have a different perspective on the matter than you do. Life is about learning, not about destroying. Understanding begins on the inside and then spreads outward.
